West Germany v Mexico

This afternoon we are in Moscow.

Mexico very passionate singing of the National Anthem including all standing on the edge of the pitch and the children on the pitch standing by the German players.   The crowd singing.  All around us Mexicans.
Such passion from Mexico all the way to Russia.

Joachim Low is the German Manager, he was in 2014 when they won the World Cup, when they beat Brazil.  He still is.

Mexico take the lead 10 minutes before half time.  Superb play by Mexico and thoroughly deserve the lead.

Germany have a free kick.  Oh my God, that was close.  Tipped over the bar.  Germany want to get one back before half time.

Mexico should be miles ahead.  Half time 0-1

Great first half.   I hope the second gives us the same.  Mexico ahead on tactics so far.
Mexico could annihilate Germany in the second half.

Joachim  Low is going to be the busy manager in the dressing room

Second half
Similar start to the first half.  Germany have the ball but Mexico look confident in defence.   German midfield kicking it around need to take it to Mexico.  Not looking so intelligent at the moment.
Mexico quick on the counter, Ozil looking just like the Arsenal player he is, and any Arsenal follower will know what I mean. (In fact anyone who follows English football will know what I mean).     Mexico are all over the place.

Why was Leroy Sane not in the German squad?    They needed him in midfield today.  Pace.

Germany have the ball, Ozil had it,  but flag up.   Substitution, defensive change by Mexico.

Germany getting into the game now.        Making a change.

I went away from the tv and switched on the Radio 5 commentary.  Superb.

The game has now ended and Germany have lost 0-1.

It could have been more.

Germany have a midfield to address before the next match.  They came out for  a stroll and to hold Mexico off.  It didn't work like that. Mexico were fast, attackers and always on the counter.

We will see a different Germany in the next game v Sweden next Saturday.
