How will we cope

No cars in the car parks.   No shops open on the station concourse.    It looked like the world  after the Apocalypse.    No flower seller, no Subway, no Smiths.   All shut.

Nobody on the trains.

No commercial property shares can be worth holding now.  Office blocks will empty, shops will empty.  Already Norwich has an INTU shopping mall in administration.

No commuting,  Zoom the meetings and have the odd awayday for bonding.

I came home on a train that would normally have been full.     Empty.   I spoke to the driver when I got off.   "Nope, nobody uses the trains anymore" he told me, dejected.

The guard gave me a mask in the empty carriage.   We laughed about my homemade one which was a bit floppy.

(I am saving the new one he gave me for the hairdressers on Friday).

The Odeon was a scene of the world gone mad is all I can say.   The social distancing was way over the top and common sense did not prevail.     6 of us in to see Little Women (I enjoyed it more the second time).   No adverts although the Odeon proclaimed   "Now the Adverts" in the Odeon way but no adverts apppeared because all the advertisers  have disappeared.  Then it went straight to "Now the bit you've all been waiting for - the trailers" which consisted of  a few  animation films.     Bleak.

It was not a happy day out for me.   Well it was in that it got me out of the house and able to keep to set timekeeping again, catch a train  and see a film,  but everything else was dismal and depressing.   I see poverty coming all around because poverty is not just the poor, it is going to be things you did not even think capable of being uttered in the same breath as poor.   God knows how the pension funds are going to cope with the fall out.   The knock on effect  of COVID 19 is going to be a long one and a harsh one for everybody.
